M104: Material Forecast Report

The Material Forecast Report provides a consolidated material requirement forecasting and inventory planning view within TUHUND.

The report is designed to help organisations analyse future material requirements based on customer sales orders and evaluate whether sufficient inventory is available to fulfil planned production and operational commitments. It combines demand forecasting, stock availability analysis and procurement planning into a single operational report.

It is commonly used for:

  • material requirement forecasting,

  • production planning,

  • procurement planning,

  • inventory allocation analysis,

  • shortage identification,

  • branch-level material planning,

  • and supply-chain decision making.

The report can be accessed through:

Production → Reports → Material Forecast

Report Interface

The report interface contains:

  • organisation selection,

  • order-type filtering,

  • job-order status filtering,

  • stock status filtering,

  • branch grouping controls,

  • variant grouping controls,

  • cutoff-date selection,

  • and a consolidated material forecast grid.

The ENTIRE ORGANIZATION selector allows users to generate material forecasts across accessible organisations, companies or branches.

Filtering and Forecast Options

The Show selector supports order-type filtering including:

  • Show All,

  • Internal Orders,

  • and Job Work Orders.

The Job Order Status selector supports:

  • Open,

  • Fresh,

  • Awaiting Approval,

  • Approved,

  • Material Requested,

  • and In Production.

The Stock Status selector supports inventory availability analysis including:

  • No Stock,

  • Short Stock,

  • Available Stock,

  • and All Stock Conditions.

The Branches selector supports:

  • Split By Branches,

  • and Combine Branches.

The Variants selector supports:

  • Split Variants,

  • and Combine Variants.

The Cutoff Date field allows organisations to forecast material requirements up to a selected date and evaluate future inventory demand within a specified planning horizon.

Report Structure

The report is displayed as a structured material forecasting grid where each row represents a material, inventory item or material variant depending on the selected grouping configuration.

Depending on the selected view, the report may display:

  • Material Name,

  • Material Attributes,

  • Branch,

  • Required Quantity,

  • Allocated Quantity,

  • Pending Quantity,

  • Available Quantity,

  • Allocable Quantity,

  • Short Quantity,

  • Pipeline Quantity,

  • and Recommended Order Quantity.

The report supports both consolidated and detailed forecasting views through branch and variant grouping controls.

Forecast Data Source

Material forecasts are generated using the most relevant production planning source available.

Before a job order is created, forecasted material requirements are calculated using customer sales-order information.

After a job order is created, the forecast automatically transitions to the job-order requirements. This ensures that any production-specific changes, revised quantities, planning adjustments, minimum or maximum material settings and operational modifications are reflected in the forecast.

This approach allows the report to provide accurate material planning information throughout the production lifecycle, from initial order confirmation through production execution.

Material Requirement Analysis

The report calculates projected material demand using customer sales-order requirements and compares forecasted demand against current inventory availability.

Key forecasting metrics include:

Required
Total material quantity required to fulfil forecasted demand.

Allocated
Material quantity already allocated or reserved against requirements.

Pending
Remaining quantity still required after allocations.

Available
Current inventory available in stock.

Allocable
Quantity that can be immediately allocated from available inventory.

Short
Forecasted material shortage after considering available stock.

Pipeline
Material expected to become available through incoming inventory or procurement activity.

Order
Recommended procurement quantity required to satisfy forecasted shortages.

This structure allows organisations to quickly identify material gaps and plan purchasing activities before shortages impact production.

Branch and Variant Analysis

The report supports flexible forecasting analysis through branch and variant grouping options.

When Split By Branches is selected, material requirements are displayed separately for individual branches or operational locations.

When Combine Branches is selected, material requirements are consolidated across all branches.

Within TUHUND, a variant represents a variation of the same base product. For example, in the garment industry a single style may be produced in multiple sizes, colours, materials or other attribute combinations. While these variants belong to the same product, they may have different inventory levels, material requirements and production commitments.

When Split Variants is selected, material forecasts are displayed separately for each variant, allowing organisations to analyse requirements at an individual size, colour or variant level.

When Combine Variants is selected, material requirements from all variants of the same product are consolidated into a single forecast view. This provides a higher-level planning perspective and is particularly useful for procurement teams when evaluating total material demand across an entire product range.

These options allow organisations to perform both detailed operational planning and high-level procurement forecasting depending on their reporting requirements.

Drilldown Functionality

Each material group includes a drilldown option that provides detailed requirement allocation information.

The drilldown report may display:

  • Job Order,

  • Customer,

  • Branch,

  • Required Quantity,

  • Allocated Quantity,

  • and Pending Quantity.

This functionality is particularly useful when analysing combined branch or variant views, as it allows users to identify the specific job orders contributing to forecasted material demand.

Job Order references within the drilldown report are clickable and open the corresponding job-order record for further review.

Export Functionality

The Export button exports the currently displayed material forecast data for procurement planning, inventory analysis and operational reporting purposes.

Exported reports reflect the selected filters, grouping options and forecasting configuration.

Data Representation

The report supports:

  • material demand forecasting,

  • inventory availability analysis,

  • procurement planning,

  • shortage identification,

  • branch-wise material planning,

  • variant-level forecasting,

  • inventory allocation analysis,

  • and supply-chain planning visibility.

Displayed information varies depending on the selected order types, job-order statuses, grouping options and forecast date range.

Summary

The Material Forecast Report provides a consolidated material requirement forecasting and inventory planning view within TUHUND.

By combining customer-order demand forecasting, inventory availability analysis, shortage identification, branch-level planning and procurement recommendations, the report enables organisations to proactively manage material requirements and maintain uninterrupted production operations.
